Pins

by Flag

Pins is a very good player but is almost preternaturally cautious. He can be up 5 pills, but instead of going for the throat, he pushes forward and takes a couple of bases in no-man's land. He lives for the defensive game.

Pins is a capable pillwarrior but can be vulnerable to angry spikes, especially early in the game. For such a patient player, he gets his man killed a lot.. particularly in the early game when he attempts strange multiple takes on neutrals. If you get in a pillwar with Pins, you're playing to his strength; try to flank as early as possible. Pins loves to use the double pill builder-killer takes. If you're prepared for them, you may be able to turn this to your advantage. As technically-skilled as Pins is, he doesn't always win all the games that I think he should.

Pins has tried to ambush me with spikes out of the trees before in 1x1's, but I don't think this is one of his favorite tactics.. On occasion, he will play very erratically, going into fits of carpet mining or similar odd behavior. He frequently declares his irritation at excessive etiquette-imposed limits on mining, so the carpet-mining may be a manifestation of that belief. Or it may just be a tactic to vent his frustration/provoke his opponents' frustrations when things aren't going well.
