Toad
by Flag

Another cable modemer... hasn't been playing long, but progressed very rapidly initially--he's part of the Nintendo generation, maybe that explains it, hehe.. He became a capable player as fast as anyone that I can think of, but his progress has slowed since then--he got the basics very fast and rose to mid-level status, but hasn't kept going nearly as quickly. His signature move is walling men. He loves to do it and manages to get the blocks in the right place very frequently--I've lost several games where my man spent crucial minutes reposing in the Hotel Toad, so think twice about doing anything risky with your man in hostile territory when you're up against Toad--you may lose your man for longer than the time it takes him to 'chute in. Ironically, Toad tends to lose his OWN man fairly frequently... he doesn't make super-risky long plants that much, but he may try to sneak one in on you are right in front of him just out of range--you can often get his man post-plant if not before. Sometimes this may be because he tries to hard to maintain the pace of an attack after initial success--stick around even if you're low on armor, because you may be able to smoke his man and bring him to a halt. In 1x1's, he seems strong in the early game--several times he's built up substantial pill leads against me, particularly when I make mistakes (maybe i should rephrase that--when I make more mistakes than usual)... but he falters thereafter and hasn't been able to finish.
