Well, what can you say about Vert? If Vert has a weakness, it's that he's generally pretty sure that he can beat you easily so he gets a little careless. 99 times out of 100, you can't take advantage of it--he's Vert... but every now and then he'll drop 4 or 5 pills all of a sudden. From that point on, you're on your own. I've tried spiking, pillwalking, baseraping and harsh language, all with extremely limited effect. In a multiplayer game, if I'm matched up against Vert, I play cautiously and cry for help a lot. Keeping a pill or two on board is a good idea since Vert likes forced (2 pill builder-killer) takes; he usually sets up the pills too far back for you to get an easy shot, however. After beating me about 10 times in a row one day, Vert told me that the most crucial skill in the game was driving ability.. Vert has it.. he rarely comes out on the short end of a dogfight, and he usually fewer hits from angry pills. Making matters worse, he can shift in and out of his wide range of pilltakes extremely rapidly. He likes linked multiple-pill attacks, doing a pilltake with one and placing another.... often he will not rebuild his blocking pill because he is usually able to win a dogfight if one ensues; this also allows him to plant the angry pills he picks up quickly, driving you back further and further.
Vert hasn't played nearly as much in the last couple months, and I think the rust is showing somewhat. While he is certainly still a very dangerous opponent, he's clearly not at the top of his game. He still uses the same tactics, especially carrying a lot of pills around, but he is a lot more likely to get himself or his man killed, with dire consequences. He seems more vulnerable to pressure as well--he doesn't always get the incoming man, and you can break his fronts more easily once you get moving. I actually tooled on him a couple of times in 1x1's, which was startling to me (perhaps to both of us, heh).. That being said, he won the last game we played that night, although it took him an hour or so to do it.
