  This is an easy to read, well-organized encyclopedia of information about the novels, stories, and time period of Sherlock Holmes.  The entries are well organized, and are cross-referenced to other pertinent entries.

Tracy, Jack.  The Encyclpaedia Sherlockiana or, A Universal Dictionary of the state of Knowledge of Sherlock Holmes and his biographer John H. Watson, MD, New York: Doubleday and Company, Inc, 1977

              This encyclopedia contains copious entries about Sherlock Holmes.  The text font of the encyclopedia is difficult to read.  Entries are cross-referenced.  There is a detailed bibliography in the back, as well as a map of London on the inside front cover, and a map of the surroundings of London on the inside back cover.
