Research: Comparative politics with a strong IR and public administration/ public policy bent. The central theme in my research is multilevel governance, that is, the incidence, sources, and implications of the dispersion of authority across multiple levels of authority. While most of my research has had the European Union as empirical referent, recent and future work takes the theme to other parts of the globe. Other interests: identity, parties and public opinion, political elites (esp. in the European Commission).
