I am a volcanologist/soapmaker/ gourmet, a.k.a "foodie" or amatuer chef/ musician/ writer/ principal of self-education,  who also loves freedom, learning, revolutionaries, and the Universe, not neccessarily in that order.  Here are a few of my favorite sites.  Hope you enjoy them as much as  I do.
bulletSalon.com, The online magazine for current events.  This used to be a great site, but now you have to pay for the good stuff.  Real bummmer.
bulletCursor.org, Lucky, lucky, lucky for us there are other great sites that are still giving knowledge away.
bullet Independent Booksellers, Bite the bullet and spend a few more bucks than on Amazon.com.  It is a small price to pay in the big picture.
bulletVenerable Music, Good guys selling good, hard-to-find music.
bulletCopper Creek Records, Don't burn it, buy it.  Keeping musicians alive keeps music alive.
bulletThe Old Time Herald, the old-time music magazine where I like to volunteer.
bulletCounty Sales, Another good place to buy music.
bulletHalf price books and cd's, I recommend this site specifically for out of print stuff.  Recently these guys have totally merged with eBay, and I am getting kind of nauseas.  Proceed with caution.
bulletJonathan Lee's homepage, To find out more about seismology at UNC-Chapel Hill, go here.
bulletUSGS, the United States Geological Survey - tons of info here about geological sciences.
bulletGrowing Without Schooling, Jon Holt's unschooling magazine's homepage.  This magazine recently ending it's >20 year publication.  Truly a tragedy!
bulletEpi-Curious, anyone?  THE site for all you gourmets, or just those who need a great recipe, a restaurant recommendation, or some cooking tips.
bullet Vegetarian Corner Recipes, A good place to find some vegetarian recipes
bullet Soapmaker's Resource  The most comprehensive site for soapmaker's resources.  Find out where to get everything you need here.
bullet Meditate, If you are curious about Zen Buddhism or the benefits of meditation, check out this site.  My a zafu from their pattern.  They are WONDERFUL!
bulletBuy a Zafu from Good Folks, If you're not into making your own, buy one from this wife and husband team.  Zafus are a miracle for those with back problems or sore tailbones.  Use it to meditate, or just take it anywhere you need a comfortable seat.
bulletDairy-induced health problems? Kidney stones, diabetes, and asthma are just a few of the health hazards of dairy consumption.  Educate yourself, and above all, listen to your body.
bulletIRIS PASSCAL, Home of Passcal Instruments an d a wealth of seismic info
bulletZmagazine online, The online version of Z Magazine.
bulletLearn in Freedom, Another radical unschooling site.
bulletHome-ed Magazine, A good homeschooling magazine.
bulletInfoshop, Information central for all things anti-authoritarian.
bulletLive365, Lots of web radio here.
bulletStromboli on-line, The tourists guide to Stromboli and other volcanoes.
bulletSmithsonian Folkways, Home of what was once Arther Nash's Folkways Records.
bulletFair Trade, All about what's wrong with the WTO and NATO.
bulletSustainable Farming, A wealth of info about sustainable agriculture.
bullet Seasonal Eating, Go here to learn how to eat fresher, healthier, and support your local economy.
bullet Seasonal Foodguide, More help to get you starting eating seasonally.
bulletJon's Homeschool Resource Page, The most comprehensive homeschool site I've seen.
bulletWhole Grain Eating, The whole story about whole grains vs. processed, bleached, and enriched (YUK!).
bullet EcoWorld, It's only a tiny little corner of the universe, but it's HOME to us!
bulletPhil's Art Gallery, These are the favorites of my favorite, but don't take my word for it.  If art has never really reached out and grabbed you before, you should see these portraits that appear to be living and breathing right there on the canvas.
