PhotoMy name is Jenny Pribble and I am a Ph.D Candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  My research focuses on the politics of social policy reform in Latin America.  In my dissertation, I create a typology of Latin American social protection systems using new indicators of spending coverage.  I then develop and test a theory that explains the emergence and evolution of these systems.  I will defend my dissertation in the spring of 2008.

I earned my Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004 and published my MA thesis as an article in the Latin American Research Review (LARR).  While at UNC, I have worked as a TA for the courses: Contemporary Latin American Politics and Introduction to International Relations.  In May of 2006, I was awarded the John Patrick Hagan Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching.

Prior to coming to UNC, I worked as a Journalist in Santiago, Chile, freelancing for United Press International and writing on a permanent basis for the Santiago Times.  I earned my Bachelor's degree in International Studies from Miami University.  For additional information about my research, teaching, and publications, please follow the links at the top of this page.
