WELCOME to the Clean Machine Cycling Team website. The team is based in Carrboro, NC, otherwise known as the "Paris of the Piedmont". Carrboro/Chapel Hill form the western vertex of the Research Triangle and lie within the borders of Orange County which is home to excellent mountain biking and some of the best road riding anywhere in central NC. This year, The League of American Bicyclists designated Carrboro as the 55th "bicycle friendly" city in the nation. Carrboro knows bikes are cool. The team concept for Clean Machine Cycling was conceived of a few years ago by employees and core-patron cyclists of The Clean Machine Bicycles, located right on main street in Carrboro. The Clean Machine has been keeping the locals rippin'it up, around town and beyond, for thirty years now. For 2002, the level of committment has been stepped up a bit and the cycling team -yes, with a roster and all that formal jazz, is going a little more certified(able). There is a team jersey now, and sponsors have been brought on board to support the cause and get some good press to boot. The 2002 racing season (April to October) promises to provide renewed excitement from both existing racers and new members ready to represent the colors and reestablish Clean Machine's reputation...Carrboro style. The team roster for 2002 is comprised primarily of mountain bike racers. To fulfill the teams longer-term goal of multi-discipline representation, it will encourage participation by the MTB racers in a road or cyclocross event when feasible. The team will also be open to adding committed individuals with road racing experience to its roster. One team motto is: Have the most fun with the least time penalty We
also have a few more serious goals:
So, that's the deal. |
