If you are staying in Granville Towers or the Carolina Inn, you may find this schematic map helpful. It shows the relation between the lodging, the FedEx Global Education Center, and the Ackland Museum, all of which are within walking distance of one another. » Restaurants

For those unfamiliar with the Chapel Hill area, this document (MS Word format) provides a list of restaurants within walking distance from the Carolina Inn.

» Travel

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is the nearest airport to Chapel Hill (approximately 20 miles from campus), and is served by most major carriers. Unfortunately there is no airport-hotel shuttle service. Taxi fare is about USD$35 each way.

» Hotel

A block of rooms has been reserved at the beautiful Carolina Inn for ICNS participants at the special conference rate of USD$164 per night ($179 for smoking). Make your reservation online by following this link or call 1-800-962-8519. The code for the special conference rate at the Carolina Inn is 'ANS' (not: 'AANS'). Budget accommodations are available at nearby Granville Towers, a private student dorm. The room rate (including bed linens) is $39.50 per person/night. If you wish to stay at Granville Towers, please contact Dan Thornton (dan_thornton@unc.edu) prior to May 15 with your arrival and departure dates, and he will make the arrangements.

Room reservations have been made in the South Tower at Granville Towers for those participants who made arrangements in advance. Conference attendees will be staying on the third floor (or second floor for our European guests!). Check-in will be in the office of the South Tower. The Granville Towers complex is located at 125 West Franklin Street, behind University Square shopping center.

Another (more expensive) option is the new Franklin Hotel on Franklin Street. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the Franklin Hotel to the Global Education Center. For more information or to book a room, please visit http://www.franklinhotelnc.com.
