For Faculty

Quote"I have just had one of the best, most surprising teaching experiences of 20 years. The 'service' component of the course unleashed a wildly devoted degree of activism among my students that will guide me for years to come. My lesson: allow those first year students to connect their coursework and their world actively and they will build their own foundation for a genuinely engaged education."
Dr. Della Pollock, Communication Studies

Service-Learning Courses
Combine academic coursework with community service through an integrated service-learning experience for your students. Community placements offer students the opportunity to experience the abstract concepts they are learning in the classroom in a real-world setting. Currently, more than 30 service-learning courses from over 16 disciplines are offered every semester. For more information, view our Course Instructor Guide.

Faculty Advisor
Work with a student on an independent study while the student develops relevant academic exercises in conjunction with an APPLES internship or fellowship experience.

Workshops, Discussions and Institutes
Participate in workshops, discussions and faculty development institutes, offered in conjunction with the Center for Teaching and Learning, covering a variety of service-learning topics.
