Community Partner Homepage

A community partner is a not-for-profit or governmental agency that forms a service-learning partnership with the APPLES program. Over 200 community organizations in the Triangle-region partner with the APPLES program each year by working with undergraduate service-learning volunteers and interns. This partnership provides the community partner with a variety of opportunities, including volunteer and internship programs. Service-learning partnerships benefit both the community through service and the student through new learning experiences.

Opportunities for Partnership
Service-Learning Courses
Students enrolled in designated Service-Learning Courses combine academic coursework with community-based service directly linked to the content of their course. Students commit to serving 3-5 hours a week for 10 weeks with a specific community partner.

Service-Learning Internships
Community partners with growing needs or specialized projects opt to participate in the Service-Learning Internships program. Students commit to serving 12-15 hours a week in the spring and 35-40 hours a week in the summer. This is a paid experience, with the amount of the stipend shared by the community partners and the APPLES program.
