Alternative Break Trips

Alternative Fall Break | Alternative Spring Break

APPLES’ Alternative Fall and Spring Breaks provide an avenue for students to perform service activities across North Carolina, the Southeast, and the Mid-Atlantic. It is a great way to take a trip away from campus during the university break periods each semester. Not only do students get to travel and serve the needs of a different community, but they also get to make lasting friendships with other Carolina students.

Each group is led by student organizers and works collaboratively to assess and address the needs of their destination community before leaving for their trip. Once arriving at the destination, students are able to explore a new culture, make new friends, and carry out worthwhile community service. Throughout the alternative break experience, students will also have the opportunity to reflect upon their experiences and to explore deeper issues relating to the community. Best of all, APPLES covers all travel expenses.
