Project: Sustaining Crop Growth in Rural Ghana
Community Partner: The Methodist Orphanage and AIDS Clinic in Lawra, Ghana

The aim of this project is to build a drip irrigation system made from local and culturally appropriate materials in order to increase the crop yield in Lawra, Ghana. In order to test the viability of this system before expanding it throughout the country, the irrigation system will first be built on a plot of land at the Methodist Orphanage and AIDS Clinic. The women and children in this clinic will be taught how to use the system, what the benefits of the system are, and how to make the excess yields of produce profitable. The profits from the produce can be used to pay for the antiretroviral treatments for the women and children at the clinic who are infected with HIV/AIDS.
