This instrument-lending program will allow us to engage with the local
community in a sustainable and cooperative manner. One of the biggest
problems with fostering music in the local community is the inaccessibility
of materials. This need is apparent from the amount of interest from
parents who want to give their children the opportunity to get involved in
music, but cannot do so. We will promote the program in schools and other
local settings. Through instrument drives, local partnerships and
donations, we hope to obtain instruments to implement this endeavor.
Using an honor-based contract, we will supply instruments to youth who are
interested in learning music. The primary goals of this venture are to
facilitate community bonds within the university, and subsequently with the
surrounding community, while increasing the number of local youth who are
able to get involved in the arts. |
