Students who wish to apply to an APPLES International Service-Learning program should initiate their Study Abroad application online at http://studyabroad.unc.edu where they will create their own personalized application status webpage. Applicants should log-in to their application status page to find instructions for the application process, important dates to mark on their calendars, and a checklist of required application materials to submit. Any questions regarding the application process should be directed to the Study Abroad advisor responsible for the particular region of the program.
An interview will be required of all students applying to APPLES International Service-Learning programs to ensure compatibility with the intended goals of the program. These interviews will be conducted by a selection committee composed of staff, faculty, and students from the APPLES International Committee. Applicants will be contacted by email and provided with instructions and a link for scheduling their interview.
The Study Abroad Office will notify the applicants of their nomination for acceptance by email and include important instructions on the Study Abroad Office procedures for accepting and confirming their intent to participate in the program. Nominated applications will be forwarded to CGE and IPSL by Study Abroad. CGE and IPSL will make the final decision on applicants selected for each program, and will in turn send these students appropriate acceptance materials. Students who are not accepted for the APPLES programs may have other study abroad program options available to them and should contact the Study Abroad Office.
