In March of 2007, twelve UNC students and a professor went to
Guanajuato, Mexico as part of the first APPLES Alternative Spring Break Trip Abroad. The group traveled to a number of cities in the state of Guanajuato, the origin community for the majority of immigrants in Orange County, NC. They met the families of immigrants in their hometowns and participated in the work of a community foundation to learn about the impact of migration. The following photos and essays by students illustrate some of their experiences.
