About the agency: The mission of A Helping Hand is to serve older adults and individuals with disabilities so they may maintain their independence as long as possible. A Helping Hand addresses the increasing needs of older adults who need escorted transportation to appointments, help with errands, meal preparation, medication reminders, and light housekeeping.

Internship Description: Projects include volunteer recruitment, nurturing, and special event planning, including:

  1. learning more about the needs of older adults by providing direct care

  2. gaining an understanding of a non-profit organization

  3. assisting with coordination of Valentine “Delivery and Serenade”

  4. expanding organizational capacity by recruiting more volunteers

  5. growing personally and professionally.

Skills Needed: Computer literacy. Willingness to learn aspects of non-profit work, including grant research and writing.

Majors of Interest: Human Services, Health Care, Public Relations, Business

Transportation Needed: Car and clean driving record [past 3 years]
