- REACH Fellowships
Offers Ph.D. candidates a $30,000 stipend over two consecutive years; a one-year research and travel grant to support international dissertation field research and a one-year stipend to apply that international research to teach an undergraduate course (currently limited to candidates with an Asian focus).
- Fulbright U.S. Student Program
Gives students opportunities for international experiences. Graduate students and graduating seniors are eligible to apply.
- Fulbright-Hays Dissertation Research Abroad
Allows Ph.D. candidates to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies (excluding Western Europe).
- Doctoral Research Travel Awards
Supports doctoral research, especially at the stage between passing comprehensive exams and defending the dissertation proposal.
- International Internship Awards
Offers financial support to students who have secured an internationally focused internship.
Center for European Studies
- UNC Graduate Students may apply for funding to:
- Study a West European language during the academic year or in a summer intensive program (Foreign Languages and Area Studies fellowships)
- Conduct summer research in Europe on a European Union related topic
- Participate in a joint research project with a faculty member
- Travel in the US or Europe to present conference papers on European topics.

Deadline for all fellowship applications is November 14, 2006 at 9:00 pm EST. Eurasia Program Title VIII Fellowships serve to expand and strengthen the field of Eurasian studies through the support of research, writing, advanced-training and curriculum development. All fellowships are intended to support work on or related to the New States of Eurasia, the Soviet Union and/or the Russian Empire, regardless of the applicant discipline within the social sciences or humanities.
