Eligibility

  • The staff at Disabilities Services, in consultation with staff at Academic Success Program, oversees the eligibility process for all students with disabilities. 
  • The first step to become eligible for accommodations and services is to submit documentation to the Department of Disabilities Services.  Please visit their website where the documentation guidelines are posted. http://disabilityservices.unc.edu/eligibility/document-guidelines.html  
  • The Director of Disabilities Services, Jim Kessler, will contact you after your documentation has been reviewed to let you know whether you are eligible to receive accommodations and services, or if more information is needed from the evaluator before eligibility is determined. 
  • If you are eligible, you will be directed to contact The Academic Success Program to set up an appointment with one of our learning specialists who will then work with you to determine necessary accommodations and services.
