The Atlas of the Orient is one of two closely intertwined components of the LexicOrient metasite (the other is the Encyclopedia of the Orient). The atlas provides small scale, color, hypsometric maps of each country or first-order administrative area in North Africa and the Middle East, including: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauretania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Western Sahara and Yemen.

Each country map depicts modern administrative borders, major cities and some major roadways. Each map image is also an image map, providing links for many cities to individual entries in the Encyclopedia of the Orient.
