No. The CD-ROM contains a complete copy of the Map-By-Map Directory (available for order separately in a two-volume, 1,400-page print edition) plus a digital copy of the atlas Gazetteer . All of these materials are stored in Adobe PDF (portable document format) files and are accompanied by an electronic index and Adobe Acrobat Reader (TM) software that permits searching of the entire document collection. They contain all the formatting found in the hard-copy version and, using the Acrobat Reader software, may be viewed on a computer display or printed out on paper.
The Center is currently collaborating with the American Philological Association and Princeton University Press to produce a Barrington Atlas on CD-ROM , but production plans are not yet definite.
