The library and research resources of the University of North Carolina, when combined with those of other area universities and the Centerʼs own special collections, make Chapel Hill an excellent location to conduct research projects on a wide range of topics relating to the cartography, history and geography of Greek and Roman antiquity. The following list, which is still under construction, provides some highlights of the rich bibliographic, cartographic, computational and human resources that make the Centerʼs work possible:

AWMC Journals TOC File

Current contents of the Center’s Journal Table of Contents File, which includes copies of the tables of contents (from 1995 forward) of most journals cited in the Map-by-Map Directory to the Barrington Atlas that are also actively subscribed by the libraries of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The TOC file is also available in the Center’s space in Davis Library for consultation by scholars and students by prior arrangement. [ read article ]

The Center holds all 38 sheets of the Carta storica archeologica monumentale e paesistica del suburbio e dell’agro romano, published between 1982 and 1988 by the X^ Ripartizione Antichità e Belle Arti. These maps show the location of important archaeological and environmental properties within the jurisdiction of the Commune di Roma. Our copy is stored flat in drawers in the Center’s space in Davis Library, and can be consulted by prior arrangement. [ read article ]

The Walter Royal Davis Library is the largest and most comprehensive collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As the central library for both the Humanities and Social Sciences, Davis houses the university's research collections of material in Ancient History, Archaeology, Classics and Geography. [ read article ]
