Maryland Leaves ACC.

Today Maryland announced that it would be joining the Big 10 Conference effective July 1, 2014, with competition to begin in all sports for the 2014-15 academic year. Maryland has been a member of the ACC since the ACC was founded in 1953. It will become the second team to leave the ACC after South Carolina left in 1971. As of April 2011, Maryland claims 40 national championships. Maryland was awarded a national championship for various sports including basketball, football, and soccer.
