Meet Some Scholars

As of the 2008-09 academic year, over 1800 students had enrolled at The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill as Covenant Scholars. And more are added each year.

Scholars have come from small and large high schools; rural areas and large cities; North Carolina and other states. Most entered Carolina as first year students, but many transferred from another college. Each came to Carolina with a dream and goals for their future. They came – they are succeeding – and they will go on to do exceptional things in life because they had this opportunity.

While Scholars share the common characteristics that made them eligible for the Carolina Covenant, each has a unique story. Here are a few:

Daigle’s involvement with the Covenant’s people kicked into high gear shortly after he transferred to Carolina.

The Covenant helped Felton meet new friends, find a roommate and form relationships that will last throughout his life.

Barnes is a perfect example of how using the services and programs available to Covenant Scholars can alter a life's direction.

Jackson knows what works for her and will share it with other students.

When Lee graduates, she will have finished a double major in biology and Spanish, and traveled and studied in Spain.

When Shaw heard distant lands calling, she responded by traveling to France to study a semester.
