Frequently Asked Questions
| How do I find a speaker? You may choose from our list of featured speakers and topics, or if you have something very specific, contact us to see if we have a faculty member who can address your topic. Who can request a speaker? Any group within the state with a diverse audience can make a request for a speaker and have stipend and travel costs covered by the Charles H. Revson Foundation grant. Groups such as libraries, schools, museums, community and civic organizations, and senior centers are encouraged to participate in this program. The events must be held outside of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area How much does it cost? The Charles H. Revson Foundation grant generously covers the stipend, travel and lodging expenses for the speaker. The hosting organization needs to have or rent an appropriate venue for the lecture [with A/V support] and needs to conduct publicity for the event. When appropriate, the hosting group should also provide refreshments. How much advance notice is needed? For most of our speakers, generally plan two or three months in advance. The more notice we have, the better the chance of successfully matching a speaker to your request. Update: Our grant funding is already committed for this fiscal year. We can only arrange additional events at your group's expense. If you require the grant's support, we are happy to discuss events for next fiscal year: July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011.
