Campus Budget Update
September 3, 2009Dear Faculty and Staff:
Recent news reports have created confusion about the status of budget cuts on this and other UNC campuses. The reports led some to believe that we are planning a new round of cuts. Please know that we have not submitted any new cuts to UNC General Administration beyond those that we’ve already told you about. This campus has been planning for a total 10 percent cut in state funds for this fiscal year. In some units, the cuts have already been administered. In other units, the cuts will be implemented over the course of the fiscal year. Your best source of information about how the cuts will affect you and your unit will come from your supervisor or department chair.
We hope that no further budget reductions will be required, but we’ll continue to watch state revenue projections and work with UNC General Administration to determine if additional cuts are necessary this year. These are tough times, and we really appreciate your patience. We’re committed to sharing information about the budget as we have it. So, as soon as we know more, we’ll let you know.
