For Employees
September 9, 2008
Dear Fellow Employees:
University Day is the annual occasion to observe the University's founding. This year’s University Day is particularly notable given that it marks the formal installation of Chancellor Holden Thorp as the University’s Tenth Chancellor.
Join me and many other Employees on Sunday, October 12, at 3:00 p.m. on Polk Place to mark the University's birthday. Each unit will select two Employees to be part of the formal procession, but there will be plenty of additional seating for the rest of us. If you are chosen as one of your unit's representatives, participation in the processional and the ceremony is considered work time if your work schedule normally requires you to work Sunday afternoon.
Deans, directors and department heads are responsible for the final selection of processing Employees. Please ask your dean, director or department head to forward your area’s nominations to forum_office@unc.edu by September 29. Processors should meet at the Carroll Hall at 2:30 p.m. (rain location: Smith Center).
Parking is available at the Cobb lot near Paul Green Theater for employees showing their UNC ID, or attendees can catch a shuttle from the Smith Center.
I look forward to seeing many of you on October 12.
Yours truly,
Tommy Griffin, Chair
