For Students
September 30, 2008
Hey Everyone!
University Day is right around the corner. This University Day we will have an extra special reason to celebrate the founding of our University. On Sunday, October 12th, the University will install Dr. Holden Thorp as its 10th Chancellor.
Students are invited to attend the installation and listen to Chancellor Thorp’s Installation Speech. In his speech, Chancellor Thorp will outline his vision for the University. The goals and vision he outlines in this speech will guide him throughout his time as Chancellor.
Here are more details about the University Day celebrations.
- The ceremony, which is free and open to everyone, will begin at 3 p.m. in Polk Place, the quad between South Building and Wilson Library.
- A reception for students and other members of the University community will follow in Polk Place.
- Hearing-impaired guests needing an interpreter should contact the Department of Disability Services, 919-962-8300 (V/T).
- If rain is forecast, an official announcement will be made in advance about moving the ceremony to the Dean E. Smith Center.
I hope you will join us in welcoming our new Chancellor! See you on University Day!
Thank you,
J.J. Raynor
