The meeting was called to order at 1:01 pm by Nelson Schwab, committee chair.

Mr. Schwab’s opening remarks:
- Announced the appointment of Ms. J.J. Raynor, Student Body President-elect, to the committee as Eve Carson’s replacement.
- Spoke of the loss of Ms. Carson, recalling several comments made by participants at the memorial service on Sunday, and by a member of the search committee. Asked for a moment of silence in her honor.
Mr. Perry mentioned that he was hosting a social gathering after today’s meeting at his home. All were welcome to attend.
There being no further business for discussion in open session, Mr. Schwab called for a motion to go into closed session.
Ms. Mason read the motion to go into closed session; motion seconded by Professor Templeton. Motion passed.
The committee went into closed session to consider and evaluate the qualifications of candidates under consideration.
Mr. Schwab called for a motion to return to open session.
Professor Sayre-McCord presented the motion to return to open session; motion seconded by Mr. Carter. Motion passed.
Mr. Schwab asked if there was additional business to bring before the committee. There being none, he announced the committee in recess until 8:00 am on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in the Faculty Lounge of the Morehead Planetarium Building. The committee would then go immediately into closed session.
Meeting recessed at 7:16 pm.
