The Chancellor Search Process
The search committee, created in September 2007, conducted a national search to identify and attract candidates to become the University’s 10th chancellor. The 21-member committee was chaired by Nelson Schwab III, immediate past chair of the University’s Board of Trustees and a trustee. Vice chairs of the search committee were Roger Perry, trustee chair, and Karol Mason, trustee vice chair. Other members represented the Board of Trustees, faculty, students, staff and alumni.
The committee reached out to all University constituents for input on the search process. This Web site was part of that effort to keep the Carolina community and public informed about the committee’s work.
The committee held forums October 26 and 30 targeting students, faculty and staff; alumni and friends of the University; local elected officials and local residents. Another forum was held November 15 in Gerrard Hall.
