RESEARCH COMPUTING SUPPORT RETURNS TO ITS

Effective June 1, 2008, support for campus research computing returned to Information Technology Services (ITS). This service had previously been under the purview of the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI).

According to Larry Conrad, vice chancellor for information technology and CIO, new leadership for the research computing support function in ITS will be recruited quickly and ITS, the Research Computing Advisory Committee, and a task force headed by Dr. Terry Magnuson will work closely to achieve this goal.

For more information about the ITS Research Computing division, see http://its.unc.edu/research-computing.html.

CCI WEBSITE: NEW LOOK, BETTER USABILITY

The Carolina Computing Initiative (CCI) website has a new look and focus, courtesy of ITS Web Services. One of the major components of the redesign project was to highlight the benefits of the CCI program, which include 24/7 tech support, on-campus repair, premium software, and an optional four-year insurance policy and warranty. The new website also targets information to specific user groups and provides a gateway to other ITS referral resources. You can view the new CCI website at http://cci.unc.edu/.
