CIT Blackboard Bulletin is a print newsletter designed as an accompaniment to the CIT's Blackboard announcement listserv. While the listserv allows CIT to contact instructors using Blackboard with just-in-time news, the print newsletter encapsulates the most important information for instructors at the beginning, middle, and end of each semester. For instance, the latest issue provides a checklist for getting ready to use Blackboard for Spring 2002 classes.
The newsletter is published by the Center for Instructional Technology two to three times each semester. Electronic copies are archived at http://www.unc.edu/cit/bb/bbbulletin/index.html.
To receive the print version of CIT Blackboard Bulletin, send your name and CB# by email to jillpri@email.unc.edu.

ITRC TIP: HIDE IMAGES FOR FASTER EDITING IN WORD 2000
Have you ever created or had to maintain a document that contains many images? Unless you have a computer with a fast processor and lots of memory, it may take a long time to scroll through the document during editing because of the images.
Here's a time-saving tip that can help: Suppress the display of images and decrease the time it takes Word 2000 to "paint" each screen when you're scrolling through the document.
Here's how:
1. Go to the Tools menu and click on Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. In the Show section, select the Picture Placeholders check box and click OK.
Instead of displaying clip art, .gif, .jpeg, or other images, the program will now display what look like empty boxes instead of the images. Rest assured that the pictures haven't really gone anywhere. You can verify that the pictures are still there by clicking on Print Preview.
ITRC TIP: PRINT YOUR OUTLOOK CALENDAR WITHOUT PRIVATE APPOINTMENT DETAILS
Have you ever hesitated to print your Outlook calendar because you don't want your private appointments to show? Outlook 2000 enables you to print your calendar without printing the titles of your private appointments. The times will still show on the calendar, but instead of the title, such as Doctor's Appointment, only the words Private Appointment will print. (For this feature to work the Private check box must be selected in the appointment form.)
To prevent printing private appointments:
1. Open your Calendar folder.
2. Choose File/Print.
3. In the Print Range panel, select Hide Details of Private Appointments.
4. Click OK to print.

Response Center, Wilson Library, Suite 300.
