Test of Start/Stop Transcription System comparing regular transcription
method
- Background
We needed to find out how much time can be saved using this pedal system in
order for transcribing to be as time efficient and cost effective as possible.
This pedal system allows you to type continually without having to stop and
start the codec with the use of the mouse or keyboard controls.
- Procedure
I transcribed two different presentations, one without the pedal system and
one with. Both of these presentations used comparatively clear Real Files.
I listened to each audio clip again following its transcription to make sure
everything was correct. In other words, I edited as I went along. I type 35
words a minute.
Without the Pedal System (9.1DecisionTheory)
Transcription time: 3 hours
2,129 words
18 min. total audio
112 words spoken per minute
2 min. spell/grammar check
With Start/Stop Pedal System (envrl1/accessibility5)
Transcription time: 3 hours 5 min.
3,490 words
38.5 min. total audio
91 words spoken per minute
3 min. spell/grammar check
- Conclusion
Using the pedal cut down my transcription time by about 60%. We can see from
this test, the transcription pedal system can definitely benefit your transcription
needs.
