Who We Are
UNC Club
Gymnastics is open to guys and girls of any gymnastics level that attend UNC
(undergraduate or graduate). The only
requirement is that you sign a safety release form. We have a two-week period to pay club dues ($60/year
or $30/semester). We receive a small
amount of money from the Sports Club Office at UNC, but the majority of our
funds come from dues and fundraisers throughout the year. This year we increased our club dues slightly
in order to help pay for our trip to nationals in
Competition is
optional. Women’s competition uses Level
9 (modified) rules, but lower levels are usually sufficient. We typically attend one meet at Virginia Tech
in the fall, host our own home meet in the early spring and attend NAIGC
Nationals in April. UNC Club Gymnastics
has finished in the top 10 at Nationals every year! This year, Nationals are being held at
University of California-Berkley. Those
wanting to compete must participate in team fundraisers and purchase a team
leotard and warm-up suit.
We practice in Fetzer Gym C on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm
and on non-football game Saturdays from 12:00-3:00pm. Practices are not mandatory, but are
extremely important, especially right before competitions. We don’t have a coach, but there are always
members willing to watch routines and give advice, and provide spotting if
needed. We have use of all the women’s
equipment. Unfortunately, we don’t have
any men’s equipment except for floor and vault, but guys are encouraged to
compete on these two events!
If you have questions, come by Gym C during our practice times or
email our president Sandra Dube at sdube@email.unc.edu.
