Questions & Answers

This page is to answer questions we get a lot. If you still have questions, please email our president, Sandra Dube (sdube@email.unc.edu)

Q: Are there certain skill requirements to be on the team?

A: No, club gymnastics is ALL about FUN! NAIGC uses modified level 9 rules in competitions, but lower levels are usually sufficient.  For example, we have some gymnasts compete back handsprings and tucks on floor, while others do twists—lots of variance.  Come and join with any level of skill.

Q: Is it ok if I haven’t done gymnastics in a few years?

A: Yes, many of our members had not competed for several years and picked it back up at UNC.

Q: Do I have to compete?

A: No, competitions are optional, but encouraged.  Meets are always fun and never stressful.  The choice is yours.  The only requirement to compete at NAIGC nationals is that you compete in two meets earlier in the season.  This is an NAIGC rule.

Q: Can you join at any point during the year?

A: Yes, come to practice and all you need to do is fill out a safety waiver and pay club dues ($30/semester).  (Dues were increases slightly this year in order to help pay for our spring trip to nationals in California!)

Q: Where and when do you practice?

A: We practice in Fetzer Gym C on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9pm, and on Saturdays from 12-3pm.
