Our student organization was established in 2002 by Christine Moseley (UNC-Chapel Hill 2004 alumnus). Since then, many UNC students have volunteered for our organization and many children from the community have participated. Through Carolina Music Outreach, children from the community are learning musical talents such as voice, piano, violin, and guitar. This past semester, Carolina Music Outreach paired 46 students with UNC student teachers for music lessons. Over the years, we noticed that many children would not participate in our organization because of the lack of necessary resources due to financial barriers. As a result, we developed the idea for our musical instrument lending program--Musical Empowerment.
