The Vagina Monologues

The Vagina Monologues, which has been a staple of feminist theatre since its first performance in 1996, consists of various monologues about the female experience and what it means to be a woman. An entirely female cast portrays a variety of different characters who relate information gathered in over 200 interviews conducted by playwright Eve Ensler. The subjects of the monologues range include sex, love, rape, masturbation, orgasm, birth, and other topics, and each story is from a real person. The Vagina Monologues strives to be inclusive of the beliefs of women from all backgrounds, and Company Carolina has partnered with V-Day to further this goal, presenting The Vagina Monologues with both an English-speaking and a Spanish-speaking cast.

“Life is pandemonium” for the young contestants of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. As six eccentric elementary school students compete in a fictional spelling bee run by three equally eccentric adults, the pressure to succeed can be overwhelming. This comedic musical by William Finn takes a hilarious look at the pressure we put on children to compete. Additionally, three audience members will be invited to take part every night, so if you want to prepare, practice spelling contestant Logainne SchwartzandGrubienierre’s last name a few times and prepare for an absolute riot of a show!
 
A Little Knight Musical

Have you ever wanted to originate a role in a show? Well, this student written original musical is the perfect chance! Aimed at children, A Little Knight Musical will be performed for local elementary schools. Reminiscent of a medieval bed time story, this musical follows the young knight, Aiden, and his sheep companion, Blarney, on their epic quest to save a local village from a dragon that has been terrorizing the townsfolk. Filled with laughter, adventure, and wonderful music, this is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to help bring the arts to North Carolina’s youth.
