Writing Exercises: Paper Organization

1) Pull up onto your laptop your essays for Feeder 1A and 1B, and your unit project. In your peer groups, allow everyone an opportunity to describe the various kinds of Irish musical, literary and cinematic art they have encountered thus far in the semester.


2) Construct a thesis using the model and options below, then generate 3-4 main points (grounded in particular Irish works) that you would use to support that thesis.

"Out of all the many kinds of Irish music, literature and film created across the twentieth century, the most _______________ (memorable, compelling, important) examples of Irish popular culture are the _______________ (tragic, melodramatic, comic, dramatic)."

3) Arrange these 3-4 supporting examples into what you think is the most effective order possible, and provide a rationale for this ordering.
