Writing Exercises: Paragraph OrganizationTopic Sentences

1) Generate a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) that argues either that race is or is not still an issue on today's college campuses. Don't include any qualifiers or caveats for this exercise: write narrowly and polemically (you needn't believe in what you argue).

2) After writing the paragraph, look back at your first sentence, and shape it into the most effective topic sentence possible given the paragraph's contents.
