What is Parkinson's Disease? 1.5 million Americans are currently suffering from an incurable disease called Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is a disease that affects the central nervous system especially in the brain. It affects the neurotransmitter, dopamine. Dopamine allows patients to move freely without trouble. Patients who suffer from the disease have a decline in their common, everyday movements. Most PD patients have tremors and stiffness of limbs. They eventually lose all movement in their body as the disease progresses. |
