Emphysema is one of the more prominent lung diseases as it can severely affect a person’s everyday life.  This disease is known to be “a condition in which there is over-inflation of structures in the lungs known as alveoli or air sacs” (2003).  Harmful irritants that are deposited in the lungs often lead to the development of emphysema.  Smoking, therefore, is one of the leading causes to a person developing this disease as it puts such harmful irritants in the lungs.  Unfortunately, millions of people all over the world and throughout the nation are addicted to smoking.  As a result, many of these people are and continue to be infected by this potentially fatal disease.
Information about emphysema’s affects, the diagnosis, the treatments, and research into addition treatments can be found on this website.  As a result, it is with hope that this website can inform the general public about emphysema and lead them to take measures in preventing this disease.
