What is the responsible capacity for buildings and open space within the character and culture of UNC? This was the central question presented by Dr. Jonathan Howes in his review of the 2005 Master Plan for the UNC campus. Buildings and open space are not the only considerations - pedestrian routes, accessibility, and transportation to and through the campus are among the many critical aspects that planners must consider in the ongoing quest to enhance UNC's intellectual climate and green-friendly character while maintaining a symbiotic relationship with the town of Chapel Hill. |
