Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in Biol 11 and Chem 11, or equivalent.  Although Chapter 1 of the textbook is not an assignment, it provides a quick review of pertinent topics.  Read it and bring any questions to class.

Lectures: Monday through Friday 9:45-11:15am.  

Recitations: In 217 Wilson Hall, Mon, Tue, Thu 12:00-12:50 or 1:00-1:50. Recitations assignments will generally correspond to the topics covered in lecture.  You are expected to work on the assigned problems before recitation.

Textbook: Modern Genetic Analysis A.J.F. Griffiths et al., 2nd Ed (W.H. Freeman, 2002)

Grades:   The course grade will be calculated on the basis of 3 weekly exams that will count 20% each, a final exam, comprehensive, that will count 30% and performance in the recitation class, 10 %.  Students are expected to take all exams.  If, for reasons beyond their control, students need to miss one of the weekly exams, 10 of those points will be assigned to the final and the other 10 to the remaining weekly exams.  There will be no make up exams.

  Answers to problems on the exams will be posted after each exam, except for the final. Students must consult the key before contacting the instructor regarding grading questions. All questions pertaining to the grading of an exam must be addressed, in writing within one week of receiving the graded exam.

Office hours. Tuesdays and Thursdays after class, but you may email me and come as needed.
