Habitat for Humanity (Matthews and Orange County)

From building homes with fellow students to moving donations with future home owners, Habitat for Humanity offers a chance for the Apples student to broaden his or her knowledge in just about any area.

Possibilities include sales of surplussed supplies and donated items, solicitation for donations, design of presentation materials, and neighborhood development.

This is a "blitz" placement; there are several opportunities that are 8 or more hours in length

KIDS Voting NC

Having a school bond on this years ballot, the children participating in KIDS Voting NC were unbelievably enthusiastic when given the opportunity to voice their opinion. Unlike some service placements,both KID Voting and Habitat for Humanity allow participants to interact with the beneficiaries of the service.

This was a one time, 12 hour service opportunity on election day. I counted ballots, delivered supplies and solicited donations.
