As I was looking for a summer internship some friends of mine suggested that I search through the North Carolina Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office’s offerings. I was delighted to find internships in my area of North Carolina, and after a period of applications and interviews, I was chosen to be the intern at the North Carolina School for the Deaf Museum.

I spent 10 weeks through the summer working Monday through Friday with the NCSD Museum. I was able to perform primary research all over the state for the purpose of creating museum exhibits. Also, I was able to work with a group from NCSD to produce a brochure of historical significance and the NCSD Museum’s inaugural brochure. In connection with the Museum Brochure, I had the opportunity to work with the Museum Board as we created a new fundraising campaign and produced holiday cards, posters, and other items for the museum to sell. Throughout the summer I was also able to spend time with the staff and students at NCSD.
