In doing this service, I further enhanced my skills as an emergency medical technician. Additionally, I became better trained and saw more of the inner workings of the organization. I have always enjoyed helping people through emergency services, whether in a fire, rescue or medical capacity. This service allowed me to both help others and better my own education in the field of emergency medicine. details:
My service was with the South Orange Rescue Squad based out of Carrboro, NC. This service involved many different duties ranging from teaching, training, meetings and staffing an ambulance. Each ambulance shift is at least twelve hours long while training and meetings last an average of three hours. I volunteered on average at least one day per week.
