Objective 9: Identify nursing organizations
represented on the Worldwide Web and the organizations' research missions.
|
The purpose of this two-part Web assignment is to give you the opportunity
to explore nursing research on the Worldwide Web and assess its relevance to
your practice. Please post the assignment to your group's discussion board no
later than midnight on Tuesday, September 7.
Go to the Web site for one of the clinical nursing organizations. Below is a
partial list of such sites and their Web addresses (links open in a new
window):
You may identify another organization. If you do, please include the Web
site in your group responses.
- First review the Web
site and identify any information that relates to research. This might
include evidence-based projects, support for research through small
grants, research-based meetings, or call for research abstracts for
annual meetings.
- Go to the electronic
journals page on the UNC library page and look at the journal of the
organization and determine the extent to which the journal publishes
research.
In your small discussion groups briefly discuss the
following questions.
- Identify the
organization you evaluated.
- Discuss what you
found.
- BRIEFLY analyze the
strengths or limitations of this organization's focus on research.
- Discuss ways in which
this organization might enhance their focus on research to meet the
needs of practicing nurses more effectively.
