Part 1: Variables Influencing Teaching
and Learning
Learner Variables
|
Part 1 presents information about three groups of variables that influence teaching and learning. System variables are factors in
our professional/work systems
that influence teaching and learning. These variables come from at
least three sources: the nursing profession, the agencies in which we
work, and accrediting bodies to whom we are accountable. Teacher variables that influence
teaching and learning
include: the
model or framework the individual teacher uses to guide his/her work;
the teacher's understanding and use of learning theory; and teacher's
teaching style. Learner variables that influence
teaching and learning are
readiness
and learning style. Readiness includes experiential readiness,
emotional readiness, and physical and mental ability. Learning style
includes several dimensions, and can be described in different ways. Click on the links in the menu on
the left side of the page to learn more about these varialbes. |
