for such events, was off-limits didn’t bother them. No one even seemed to

She was out of breath, but she had one more block to go. Panting and heaving, she finally made it to Franklin Street, where the first thing she saw was a fan climbing a light pole and waving his fist victoriously.
It was the first time sophomore Donna Derrico had ever rushed Franklin Street. It’s a tradition for fans to celebrate on Franklin Street after UNC-Chapel Hill beats Duke University in a men’s basketball game. Full story

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- At around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday night, Ram Village on-campus apartments shook with joy, and it seemed the walls would crumble from the intense celebration.
For the fourth consecutive year, UNC-Chapel Hill beat Duke University in the heart of Krzyzewskiville. Carolina accomplished this feat with authority, trouncing the Blue Devils 101-87. Full story

Basketball is more a religion than a sport in Chapel Hill, NC, and the religious fervor of the University of North Carolina's Tarheels is strongest during the game against their neighbor and rival: Duke University in Durham, NC.
This legendary rivalry unfolded at the UNC vs. Duke game Wednesday at 9 pm. Because the game was at the Duke Devils' home court, UNC fans flocked to bars on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill to watch the game. Full story
