Why does divorce trouble us so much? Is it because it breaks up families, the source
of our comfort in this harsh world, or perhaps because divorce is the leading cause of all
child psychosis? Perhaps we need to take a closer look at divorce and ask ourselves if
it can be as good as we think it is bad.
Divorce has increasingly become a part of American
life, especially since no-fault divorce was introduced in the Seventies. What is an American family now? Is it still
the father and wife, the 2.3 children and the dog? Not according to the statistics. Almost 50% of all
children will find themselves traveling at some point during their life to see their other parent. Where has
the American family gone? It is still here, but the face of it has changed dramatically.
